Free and bargain Kindle books! (Saturday Dec 15)

Here is today's selection of free and bargain Kindle books!

Kissed in Paris, by Juliette Sobanet. (Still free?)

#1 seller in the Humor category, this fun romance is free today!

"This book is a bit more action packed than the first, but that only added something a bit different to it. Kissed was packed with emotion. Sobanet had me laughing out loud, but she also had me in tears. Her easy voice and pacing made the book fly by. Chloe is loveable and Julien is mysterious. It's the perfect balance of fun, romance, and adventure." -- Rachel Kall, Amazon reviewer

“You are in Paris, the City of Love. You must not be so controlled. Here, have another glass. I promise you, it will not hurt.”

When 29-year-old event planner Chloe Turner wakes up penniless and without a passport in the Plaza Athénée Hotel in Paris, she only has a few fleeting memories of Claude, the suave French man who convinced her to have that extra glass of wine before taking all of her possessions and slipping out the door. As the overly organized, go-to gal for her three drama queen younger sisters, her anxiety-ridden father, and her needy clients, Chloe is normally prepared for every disaster that comes her way. But with her wedding to her straight-laced, lawyer fiancé back in DC only days away and a French con-man on the loose with her engagement ring, this is one catastrophe she never could have planned for.

As Chloe tries to figure out a way home, she runs into an even bigger problem—the police are after her due to suspicious activity now tied to her bank account. Chloe's only hope at retrieving her passport and clearing her name lies in the hands of a rugged, undercover agent named Julien who has a few secrets of his own. As Chloe follows this mysterious, and—although she doesn't want to admit it—sexy French man on a wild chase through the sun-kissed countryside of France, she discovers a magical world she never knew existed and has to decide if the perfectly ordered life she’s built for herself back home is really what she wants after all.

I threw a stone, by Oscar Sparrow. (Still free?)

This well-reviewed book of urban poetry is free today!

"Reading this collection of fine poetry was rather like embarking on a journey with its twists and turns and ups and downs. The format is different and very readable and the subject matter is varied and fascinating to the point where feelings of nostalgia with 'Fashion Footwear' were engendered along with a variety of other emotions in other pieces. In other words Oscar Sparrow has the knack of engaging the reader in a few short lines. This collection will take you on a journey to familiar and unfamiliar places but you will be regally entertained throughout." -- L.D. Atkinson, Amazon reviewer

A collection of poems from the front-line of urban life, the cabs of lorries and the bluebell woods of mortality.

Oscar Sparrow was born in 1949 as the sonic boom of jets and babies began to draw a new world map of umbilical vapour trails.

He was brought up on cod liver oil and National Health orange juice. As the colour red leached its way out of the map of the British Empire,
Oscar attended a die-hard Church school designed to create noble savages to serve what was left of the savage Nobles.
The Eleven Plus exam revealed that he could not even count to eleven and he became a mechanic, labourer, truck driver, boxer and poet.
He read Wordsworth and Ford Cortina manuals in a lorry cab near both Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
Eventually he found himself in London where he joined the Metropolitan Police. Car chases and riots followed but he did not take it personally.
He spent his spare time touring the Art galleries, singing Piaf and learning French and Italian. Eventually The Authorities fell for the con and gave him a desk job in the Art department of Interpol London at Scotland Yard. Throughout all this time he was a would be poet, short story writer and novelist.

To Oscar, poetry is the spoken word. A free, downloadable, 45 minute MP3 audio book of these poems, read by the author, is included.

Reviews:

  • 'Expertly Wrought and a Joy To Read!'
  • 'These poems cover many aspects of life and living, relationships,
sorrows and joys. I really enjoyed them as they are understandable and
    accessible'
  • Forged from the authentic iron of experience, the author's tight, terse
lines are rife with vivid imagery that appear culled from his daily
life, yet are transformed into something mysterious, surprising, and
    utterly profound.

Wicked Sense (The Singularity Series, #1), by Fabio Bueno. (Still free?)

"Witches inhabit our world -- and Seattle's Greenwood High. Wicked Sense is smart, fun and supernatural. Fabio Bueno makes high school a wicked adventure. Looking forward to the next book in the Singularity series." -- Colleen, Amazon reviewer

Winner, 2012 Sandy Literary Contest - 1st place - YA category

"I LOVED this book. LOVED the romance." - JILLIAN DODD, best-selling author of That Boy and Stalk Me

Witches inhabit our world, organized in covens and hiding behind a shroud of secrecy--the Veil.

Skye's London coven sends her to Seattle's Greenwood High to find the Singularity, an unusually gifted witch who may break the Veil and trigger a dangerous new era of witch-hunting. Things get complicated when Skye meets a charming new classmate, Drake. Skye's job becomes even trickier when she clashes with Jane, an intimidating rival witch.

Drake falls for the mysterious Skye, but odd accidents, potion mix-ups, and the occasional brush with death kind of get in the way of romance. Once he discovers Skye is a witch, he goes to war for her, even though his only weapons are a nice set of abs and a sharp sense of humor.

Fighting off wicked Jane and the other dark forces hell-bent on seizing the Singularity's immense power, Skye and Drake will risk everything to save the covens.

Going on a date has never been harder.

Here's a bargain Kindle book, available for 99 cents today!

Some Are Sicker Than Others (An Addiction Recovery Thriller with Crime, Suspense, and Dark Humor), by Andrew Seaward. (Still $0.99?)

This gripping novel explores the different faces of substance abuse. A bargain at only 99 cents today!

"Andrew Seaward's first novel, Some Are Sicker Than Others, is an intense and emotional tale about the perils of addiction. His writing is colorful, penetrating and honest with a dose of macabre humor. This book is a white-knuckle thrill ride that I couldn't put down. I highly recommend this book to anyone. " -- Eric Johnson, Amazon reviewer

"Seaward not only weaves an exceptionally well-constructed story with wholly credible characters, he offers deeper insights and relates more factual information about the disease of addiction than any other writer to date." -Grady Harp, Top 10 Amazon Reviewer

"Monty Miller's journey reminds us of the difficult road of acceptance, forgiveness and redemption that we all must take at some point in our lives." -Cyrus Webb, Top 500 Amazon Reviewer

"This is a very dark, harsh, unmerciful look at addiction with unrelenting exposure of its consequences." -Dr. Patricia Laster, Psychologist and Author of "Breaking Free"

THE LIVES OF THREE UTTERLY HOPELESS ADDICTS CONVERGE FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENTAL AND HORRIFIC DEATH.

Monty Miller, a self-destructive, codependent alcoholic, is wracked by an obsession to drink himself to death as punishment for a fatal car accident he didn't cause.

Dave Bell, a former all-American track star turned washed-up high school volleyball coach, routinely chauffeurs his bus full of teens on a belly full of liquor and head full of crack.

Angie Mallard, a recently divorced housewife with three estranged children, is willing to go to any lengths to restore the family she lost to crystal meth.

All three are court-mandated to a drug & alcohol rehab high in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. There, they learn the universal truth among alcoholics and addicts:
Though they may all be sick...SOME ARE SICKER THAN OTHERS.

Based on the author's own personal experience with substance abuse and twelve-step programs, Some Are Sicker Than Others, transcends the clichés of the typical recovery story by exploring the insidiousness of addiction and the thin, blurred line between true love and codependence.

With the harsh realism of Brett Easton Ellis and the dark, confrontational humor of Chuck Palahniuk, Mr. Seaward takes the reader deep inside the psyche of the addict and portrays, in very explicit details, the psychological and physiological effects of withdrawal and the various stages of recovery.

As Top 10 Amazon Reviewer, Grady Harp, put it: "What sets Andrew's novel apart from other recovery stories is his deep understanding of the physiochemical aspects of substance abuse and addiction. Seaward not only understands the socioeconomic, psychological and, yes, criminal impact these people create, he also displays such a profound understanding of the physiological/medical aspects of addiction that we are left to wonder if he hasn't been down the path of his characters himself."

Red Says I Love You, by Raeann Blake. (Still free?)

A woman searching to regain her sense of self meets a sultry sculptor. Grab this romance for free today, and see how the story unfolds for the compelling and conflicted Cass Wright.

"The only words I can say are..... WOW what a ride. For me it was a rollacoaster ride of emotions, from tears to happiness and back again. It was a classic love story with twist. It kept me reading and on the edge of my seat til the very end. " -- Marmee Noir, Amazon reviewer

She passed up a four-year scholarship to put her husband through college. Then she paid her own way through after he was done...with college and with her, when he walked out the day after he got his degree. But now she was finished and enjoying a graduation present to herself in the form of one month in a mountain cabin between Bozeman and West Yellowstone. Things were definitely changing for Cass Wright. The vacation turned into a job opportunity at a local brewery. And she was intrigued by one of Bozeman's talented sculptors and spent money she didn't really have to buy one of his creations that she swore emitted invisible sex waves. It didn't take long to figure out that it wasn't the sculpture emitting those waves, but the sculptor himself.

Josh's sculptures were not what most people would consider conventional. They each depicted a couple at one point or another in that journey where interest turned to desire, desire turned to hunger, and hunger turned to satisfaction. They weren’t pornographic or even exotic but more sensual or suggestive. He never used models, so it shocked him when he realized his latest sculpture was in the image of a woman he had seen the night before at a benefit for the Battered Women's Shelter. A woman with alluring green eyes, who was now standing on the outside of the ropes that cordoned off the area where he was working. The woman who just bought that same sculpture. Little did he know that in the coming days he would find life imitating art and then art imitating life...until she got that new job. Then he found himself way over a line that he hadn't even known was there.
