Beautiful Demons (Peachville High Demons #1), by Sarra Cannon.
If you're looking for a relatively short, magical, paranormal Young Adult novel, this may be for you.
With many strong reviews, this first book in Sarah Cannon's "Demon" series tells of a "young girl's journey from last chance to a potentially wonderful world...with a dark underbelly. There are romantic threads present, but they don't overshadow the other storylines in the book."
"I will be up front. I didn't expect a lot from this book going in. Not because of the price, but because of the length. I'm used to reading 100,000-word stories in the adult fiction section, and 60,000 words in YA. This book comes in at a little over 45k, which is firmly in the "longer novella" category.
"This book pleasantly surprised me. So much so that I downloaded the sequel immediately, and tore through it like Grant went through Richmond. And after that, I had no problem ponying up the 2.99 for the third.
"I won't waste space with a summary, but Harper is an engaging heroine, Peachville is just the right amount of creepy, and the cheerleader angle is cleverly done." -- Jen Sokoloski, Amazon Reviewer
In Peachville, even the cheerleaders have a dark side...

But when evidence ties her to the gruesome murder of a Demons cheerleader, Harper discovers this small town has a big secret.
Beautiful Demons is a fast-paced YA novel with magic, mystery, and a touch of romance. This series will appeal to fans of Pretty Little Liars, Hex Hall, and The Vampire Diaries.

Wings of Retribution (Millennium Potion), by Sara King.
In the words of several reviewers, this book is a notable Sci-Fi novel based on its strong characters development.
The reviews are so over-the-top that I was suspicious... but after checking out the sample it seems well-written and neatly edited.
"I've been waiting six years for Miss King to get this one published!! I had the good luck of finding Ms. King's work several years ago online, and I've been following it ever since.
"The Millennium Potion world was definitely one of my favorites, right up there with Outer Bounds. It has one of my favorite characters of all time, and if you read the book, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about! " -- Ruthie, Amazon Reviewer

The Inconvenient Duchess, by Christine Merrill.
Here's a free Harlequin historical romance, that has been climbing the Amazon free book charts lately. It's the debut novel from Christine Merell, originally published in paperback in 2006, but available this month on Kindle - for free.
"I liked this story. I enjoyed the many transformations - the home, Miranda's appearance, Marcus' behavior. The dialogue was well done, the leads were appealing, and the couple's relationship was complex and satisfying. The author also did a nice job of creating some mystery and suspense without it overwhelming the story.
"I particularly liked the "Rebecca"-like scenes with the brother, where he was charming to Miranda, but there was a persistent sense of foreboding for the reader. There were also some good teary moments.
"I think the main characters and their history could have used a bit more fleshing out. There were also some printing/editing errors, such as missing words, and Miranda's father was sometimes called Sir Anthony and other times Lord Anthony. Overall, though, this book was a good read with a good storyline. I look forward to more from this promising new author. " -- Statengirl, Amazon Reviewer
Dear Cici and Father,
I have come to Devon and married a duke. And I'm more tired and hungry than I have ever been in my life. Please let me come home.
Compromised and wedded on the same day, Lady Miranda was fast finding married life not to her taste. A decaying manor and a secretive husband were hardly the stuff of girlish dreams. Yet every time she looked at dark, brooding Marcus Radwell, Duke of Haughleigh, she felt inexplicably compelled - and determined - to make their marriage real!
