His Wife and Daughters, by Wendy Nelson Tokunaga. (Still free?)

Let's start with a political fiction novel, highly-rated and in the top 50 Free on Amazon!

"Very well-written story about scandal and family! His Wife and Daughters is a complex look at what happens to a family when a husband and father strays. It is very well written with lots of subplots and different settings to keep the story moving forward at a good pace. ...Ms. Arbor is a very talented writer and she cleverly portrays a scenario that happens all too often in our contemporary society, and the consequences that occur because of it. A solid and enjoyable read. " -- Laura P., Amazon reviewer

Trina Brath and her teenage daughters, Jill and Phoebe, lead happy and privileged lives as the wife and daughters of successful California Congressman Dan Brath.

Eight months later, when Lesley mysteriously returns home safe and sound, Dan Brath's career is over, and his family is in tatters.

Fast forward to today, and Lesley is breaking her silence with a tell-all memoir, which is sure to make Dan Brath's wife and daughters relive the trauma all over again. Will Jill, Trina and Phoebe be able to cope, heal their wounds and move on with their lives? Keys to the Coven (Demonic Intervention Series), by Vicky Loebel. (Still free?)

This contemporary fantasy is praised for its compelling characters, well-constructed plot, and smart humor!

"Combined with a fast pace, truly funny twists and turns, and an intriguing story line, and you've got a wild ride!" - Doyne

"All in all, I came away from reading this book better having read it than if I had gone without it." - Amanda Lyn

"This book is marked by plot twists that make the book very hard to put down." - J. Richards

To become a demon, you must die in complete and utter despair. Three hundred years ago, Max passed that test with flying colors and joined the afterlife resolving never again to have innocent blood on his hands. Now a successful Demonic Intervention Agent, Max has been given the job of breaking a young woman's family curse. But what she doesn't know, what Max can't bring himself to tell her, is that completing his mission almost certainly means her death.

When Felicity Woodsen inherits her mother's coven, she learns each firstborn Woodsen daughter must become the consort of an evil-arch demon. Felicity's only hope is to ally with the mysteriously charming Max. But is saving her body from one demon worth the price of losing her soul to another?

Roxashael became a demon when his Roman captors sent his family, one by one to be devoured by lions. The lesson was clear: power is good; lots of power is better. Two-thousand years later, Rocky has power. He's purchased hundreds of souls, and he's created the Minsk Homunculus, a magic artifact that, by binding a human witch as his consort, turns him into an arch-demon and places him above the goody-two-shoes laws of karma.

Unfortunately, Rocky made a mistake. He fell in love with Felicity's mother and in a moment of weakness promised to give up his demon-consort charm. Now Felicity's mother is dead, the Minsk Homunculus is slated for destruction, and Rocky's power as an arch-demon is about to end.

No demon can break a promise. If Rocky refuses to give up the Minsk Homunculus, he'll become the lowest, most abject slave in Hell.

But then, why break promises when they're so easy to corrupt?

*Caution: This book contains violence, strong sexual themes, moderately explicit sex between consenting adults, (unfulfilled) threats against children, and one completely gratuitous reference to unicorns. Not intended for readers under 18.

Iron Branch: A Civil War Tale of a Woman In-Between, by Kelby Ouchley. (Still free?)

Set in the swamps and bayous of northern Louisiana, this historical romance takes place in the Civil War era. Free today!

"The author spins a fine story along with his naturalist's eye for Louisiana and Mississippi River flora and fauna." - Judy

"Wonderful story, very well researched, and beautifully written." - Venita Fountain

Iron Branch explores cultural conflicts of the American Civil War era as experienced by those not often elevated to lead roles. Abita Carter, a half-Choctaw woman who describes herself as always "in-between,"  tells the story of her life and that of the young lawyer/soldier, Minor Barrett, in north Louisiana during the Civil War.

The core of the tale involves Abita's journey to find Minor, who is reported to have been wounded during the siege of Vicksburg. Along the way she faces a cast of characters with varying intentions. General Grant's wife, a family of slaves with compassion beyond reason, and a small blind mule are among those encountered in the rich, Deep South setting.

None, though, is more distracting than Minor's blue-blooded wife, who seeks her husband for a different purpose. Abita's state of "in-between" takes on new meanings as she is drawn ever deeper into the turmoil of the times. Passion, self-doubt, and malice finally threaten her existence in any condition.

WHEELS, by Lorijo Metz. (Still free?)

This novel is a Young Adult, science fiction novel with touches of mystery and romance.

"Lorijo Metz created such an amazing world in Wheels, I never wanted to leave! Right from the start, I found myself rooting for McKenzie and wishing I could particle weave too. And I'll never forget the memorable characters I discovered on Circanthos. This alien adventure is the perfect read for sci-fi lovers and all readers who enjoy an exciting story!" -- S. Slade, Amazon reviewer

McKenzie Wu doesn't know her great-great grandmother married an alien or that her great-great-great uncle is alive and systematically eliminating a race of beings on a tiny planet light years away - she has enough to worry about.

Molecules keep rearranging themselves to suit her slightest wish, but only at the most inconvenient times. If that weren't enough, shess been dreaming about an accident; one shess had no memory of until now and, if true, means McKenzie is responsible for her mother's death.

When McKenzie stumbles upon a portal, transporting her and her friend Hayes to the tiny planet of Circanthos, she learns the inhabitants believe she is the "One" destined to save them from H.G. Wells, a name that sounds strangely familiar, and his Tsendi warriors.

But while her newfound ability might give her superhero status back on Earth, halfway across the galaxy, it's commonplace - all Circanthians can particle-weave - and if they can't stop H.G. Wells, what can she hope to do?

With the portal closed and no idea how to get home, McKenzie must learn to use a power she does not want and accept her mysterious past, or risk losing everything - her father's love, her new alien friends, and the boy.
