"Witty and charming! 'Blood for Ink' is just as witty and sharp as the Scarlet Plumiere herself - hilarious in parts and romantic in others, the first book in this series is simply a joy to read and I thoroughly hope the next one is on its way soon! A must-read for anyone who likes historical fiction and romance." -- Amazon reviewer

If he unmasks her, she's as good as dead...

As the mysterious writer who exposes gentlemen's secrets, it is not the first time The Scarlet Plumiere has been hunted. But this time it’s different. This time, she interferes with one of the Four Kings, and the brotherhood will not rest until they marry her off and place her securely under a man’s thumb. Only they have to catch her first.

The Earl of Northwick is falling for this writer, sight unseen. Will she be pretty? Will she have all her teeth? In his rush to claim her for himself, regardless of who she might ultimately be, he places her in grave danger--her desperate enemies are watching closely for the moment her mask is removed.

Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker...and his cat., by Rick L. Huffman. (Still 3.99?)

"I found the detailed account of this year-long adventure quite entertaining and informative. Who knew that Elvis was a truck driver and that there is an Intercourse, Alabama or a Big Butt, North Carolina! This OTR philosopher gave us a peak into the challenges of life on the road. After reading this book, it's hard to drive next to an 18-wheeler without wondering if the driver is a former teacher or a future movie star...or if there is a furry creature riding shotgun." -- Amazon reviewer

Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker...and his cat on a one-year journey across the United States in an eighteen-wheeler. It runs the gambit from a wide-eyed rookie in Commercial Driving school to the eventual embracing of a new lifestyle at a dusty little truck stop in Crab Orchard, Tennessee.

Having made the transition to trucking after spending 20 years in television broadcasting, the author sets a comical tone from the very first chapter in a "fish-out-of-water" story. However, the dangers and challenges of life in a big truck are very real, and the book takes on a more somber tone to describe this aspect of road life. The reader is also introduced to little-known, funny, or unusual historical facts about some of the places visited while they are along for the ride. This book offers the reader an entertaining, yet candid, picture of the life of a long haul trucker with a little slice of Americana on the side.

Another unique feature is the inclusion of a "traveling cat" in the story. The comical and, sometimes, poignant adventures of "Kitty" are interwoven throughout the book and promises to hold appeal for pet lovers.

The life of the American trucker still holds a bit of the rugged explorer's lifestyle. The trucker is usually far from home and uncertain what lies around the next bend. Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker is a book that touches into a cornerstone of a lifestyle few people know about, but that hides a passionate group that bears further study, namely, truck drivers.

Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker not only describes the realities of road life and entertains the reader with humor, it puts the reader directly into the cab (and the mind) of a truck driver. Similar attempts at describing the trucking lifestyle by other authors have fallen short of the mark. Either the author handles the topic clumsily, or authors who have no firsthand knowledge of life on the road in an eighteen-wheeler write it. Even worse, writers spend a few days, or weeks in the passenger's seat with a driver, and then claim expertise in their book. In contrast, this book provides a first-hand account of life on the road for the period of a full year by an actual trucker, who also happens to be a writer. This book puts the reader into the cab of the truck and takes them along for the journey while providing education and laughter while they are along for the ride. This breadth of outlook cannot be found among the books now available.

The Life and Prayers of Saint Francis of Assisi, by St. Francis of Assisi. (Still 0.99?)

"This book is short but full of facts. Saint Francis was a very unusual person and his orders and ideals live on today. Very good story of his life and embellished with prayers at the end. A keeper that I will to refer back to and reflect on. Amazing that the Franciscans Order dating back to the 1200's continmues today and is still so highly regarded. The importance of this Saint is even more relevant as the Saint the new Pope has taken his name from. Pope Francis greatly admired this Saint and will let this have effect on his term as Pope." -- Amazon reviewer

One part biography, one part prayer book, The Life and Prayers of Saint Francis of Assisi is an essential book for any Christian.

Saint Francis of Assisi is quite possibly the most popular of all Christian saints. Perhaps it is his adoration for all living things or his unrelenting generosity that has made so many people open their hearts to him. Perhaps it is the deep conviction and piety expressed not only by the saint himself, but in his name, in the Franciscan orders throughout the centuries.

Whatever the reason, in a world that is quickly developing in a direction diametrically opposite to the saint's own simple asceticism, Saint Francis of Assisi still stirs strong emotions and compassion. How close he found God, in the very nature around him, is inspiring.

All books in The Life and Prayers series come complete with a Touch-or-Click Table of Contents, divided by each section.

Enjoy.
