The Riddles of Hillgate (Z&C Mysteries), by Zoey Kane. (Still free?)

"A cute, fast read. The Riddles of Hillgate was just a fun read. I enjoyed it because it was an over the top, slightly crazy mystery. I loved the mother daughter team of Claire and Zoey. They reminded me so much of my mom and I. Claire kept me laughing by second guessing her mom's decision, and how surprised she was when her mom was right about something. The Riddle of Hillgate is perfect for when you are looking for a fast read that is light and entertaining. I can't wait to read more adventures of this mother and daughter team. I am thankful for twitter for finding this read for me!" -- Amazon reviewer

Zoey Kane is known around Riverside for making risky purchases. When her daughter Claire learns a most recent investment is eighty acres on the haunted side of town, she is simply flabbergasted. Amazement takes over the whole community, however, when an old mansion is discovered deep within trees. After the estate is turned into a popular hotel, no one could have expected just how risky this purchase would be.

Her Something Impetuous, by Kim Hunt Harris. (Still 0.99?)

"The author's sense of humor grabs you immediately in this book. Laughing out loud isn't something I often do when reading, but I did with this book. Harris finds a way to take the most ordinary, as well as the most outrageous situations, and inject humor that stays with you. From the first page, you like and identify with the heroine - Karen. You don't have to be a thirty-something-soon-to-be-divorced-mother-of-two to connect with Karen. Early in the book you learn that Karen had resigned herself to smiling through a bad marriage and lost dreams. Then her stable but dull world gets turned upside-down. Karen faces the curveballs she's been thrown with absolutely no grace. She says all of the sarcastic things we wish we could say when faced with a pushy, condescending neighbor. In the end, she gets her life back on track and does it despite the many uncomfortable and even dangerous situations she faces. AND, she does so with an unbelievably hot guy at her side. Will is the guy we all dream about. He takes your breath away and is right there to catch you when you fall. Together Karen and Will go on a rollercoaster ride that is not to be missed. Her Something Impetuous is funny, romantic, exciting and hot! Do yourself a favor and read this one soon." -- Amazon reviewer

Deciding to do something wild and crazy is all well and good, but is Karen really going to risk her reputation - and most likely, her heart - with a white-hot fling with Will? Abso-frigging-lutely!

The Mulberry Tree, by George Mournehis. (Still 2.99?)

"What a lovely, lovely book. I really enjoyed this. I was sucked in from the first page and comfortably ensconced in the lives of allotmenteers for the duration of the whole book. Who would have thought such drama could occur in the company of cabbages, pumpkins, and tomatoes. I haven't lived! Mournehis has put together a wonderful array of characters, skilfully portrayed and well defined. Marcus' character was quite simply a masterpiece, poignantly contrasted by the enigmatic Ben. The author certainly knows a thing or two about growing luscious vegetables and fruit and expertly interlaces his experience (or if not, his impeccable research) into a rich and compelling story. Don't for one minute think that this is just a meandering story about human nature and runner beans. There are some smack-in-the-face shocks and twists that catch you unawares. Classy and compelling." -- Amazon reviewer

Marcus Lamb, who wants nothing more than to pursue his reckless and indulgent life, is puzzled by the gift his grandfather has bequeathed him. But when his inheritance leads him to Butterfly Lane and to the charming, feisty but troubled Sophia; to Alex, his grandfather’s fiery, Greek adversary, who covets Marcus’s inheritance; and to Benjamin, a shadowy recluse – the reason for his inheritance becomes clear.
