FOR LOVE'S WILD DESIRE

"This book, first published in the late 1970s and reprinted many times since, contributed greatly to the rise of historical romance; its alpha male hero helped set the standard for the genre. Beyond the "forced seduction" required at the time, the story displays what became Blake's trademarks: accurate historical detail, tasteful sensuality and lyric prose. Read it for an example of why romance novels became a publishing phenomenon." ~The Pen Moves On

"Blake is a skilled writer...romantic scenes that are marvelously effective." ~New Orleans Times-Picayune

"Readers of the genre will revel in Blake's latest historical romance." ~Publishers Weekly

"This story has it all, adventure and steamy passion, storm and treacherous danger, capture and spine-tingling suspense -- not to mention peacocks, lions, turtle doves, dwarfs, silks and satins and midnight escapes. A masterpiece of the genre." ~Romance Reviews

C'est la Vie (Raja Williams Series), by Jack Thompson. (Still free?)

From one of our favorite KB writers comes this mystery / thriller in the Raja Williams series. Get this, free today, and see why readers are loving the duo of Raja and his able female assistant, super-hacker Vinny.

"C'est La Vie is a captivating story that draws you in right from the start. It's an action-packed adventure full of suspenseful twists and turns. The wealthy PI Raja is a unique character. The story-line is smooth so it flows easily start to finish with a great concept. Raja has a partner who helps out on his cases, a super hacker named Vinny who looks like a Victoria's Secret model but is the ultimate hacker. She's a great asset to Raja's character and adds to the fun." -- Amazon reviewer

What do a private detective, a hacker and an assassin have in common? The desire to help when justice needs a hand.

C'est La Vie is a rollicking detective mystery thriller featuring Raja Williams and his partner Vinny Moore. Neither the dark, tragic anti-hero nor the James Bond super-hero type, Raja Williams is a wealthy Oxford-educated PI of mixed Caribbean descent who possesses a strong empathic power and a sixth sense for evil that gives him headaches and steers him straight into trouble. His partner Vinny Moore is a gorgeous hipster geek who prefers hacking computers to haute couture.

In C'est La Vie, book two in the popular series, Raja and Vinny go to Paris when the wife of a visiting British professor disappears and three policemen are executed. The investigation leads straight into the world of club drugs, white slavery and an international criminal known only as the Scorpion.

The writing style is lean and fast paced, with a hint of hard-boiled and plenty of humorous banter between the two protagonists, a la Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man. A colorful cast of characters, great dialogue and a suspenseful, twisting plot make C'est La Vie an entertaining tale that can be read as a stand-alone book or as the sequel to The Color of Greed.

Messages, by Christine Dougherty. (Still free?)

This psychological thriller is highly rated, and free today!

"Great find! Messages is a well-written story that grips you and pulls you into the lives of the characters. Christine has created a vivid world and backstories that creates interest and empathy in every character, even when the character wouldn't seem to deserve it on the surface. Fantastic pacing, with no extraneous side trips down useless alleys, just continuous movement forward to the end." -- Amazon reviewer

Curly Bill and Ringo: They Rode to Hell Together, by Van Holt. (Still free?)

Harken back to the thrilling times of the old west with this novel - free today!

"The author's description of the characters and setting was very vivid, and I was able to imagine just what the town of Boot Hill and its people were like. The introduction of well-known characters, such as Wyatt Earp was a fun twist, because the author was really able to flesh out those characters within the Boot Hill story. The twists and turns in the story were believable and exciting. The aspect of the book I liked the most was "who got the girl." Each turn in this tale added a new layer to the back-story, and it was not at all the typical predictable love story. Not having read many other "Old West" stories, I still found Curly Bill and Ringo to be an entertaining and fun book to read." -- Amazon reviewer

CURLY BILL AND RINGO

Why did the legendary gunfighter, Ringo, come to Boot Hill? Rumors and innuendo ignite the small frontier town.

Did the wealthy rancher, Willy Gibson, hire him to combat the cattle rustlers? Was he here to even up some old grudges? Or to hunt down the men who tried to kill him?

Miss Sarah, the most beautiful woman in town, seemed in a much different mood after he checked in at the hotel where she worked.

Curly Bill knew who he was, or thought he should, since they rode together for a time. Curly also remembered that around Ringo, you always watched for signs of trouble, if you were smart.
"Would you mind telling me why you're in Boot Hill, when you're supposed to be in hell?" Curly asks.

Ringo glanced at him out of those cold clear blue eyes. “I came back,” he said quietly. “I got lonesome down there. Kept thinking about some fellows I should have taken with me.”

Yellowstone Redemption (Yellowstone Romance Series Book 2), by Peggy L Henderson. (Still free?)

A passionate time-travel tale, this romance in the popular Yellowstone series has over 20 five-star reviews - and is free today!

"Yellowstone Redemption is filled with edge-of-the-seat adventure. The tension between the main characters is strung tighter than a piano string. Caught up in the story and passion of Sarah and Chase, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see if Chase would return to his home or if he would realize that he was meant to stay in the past with Sarah. Ms. Henderson was faithful in providing a happy ending, but what a ride it was to get there. And with all good, thrill pumping rides, I went right back to the beginning and started the adventure again." -- Amazon reviewer

Book 2 Yellowstone Romance Series

City boy Chase Russell is on the fast track to self-destruction. A star athlete, he gets into trouble with drugs and alcohol. Fulfilling a community service sentence in Yellowstone National Park is the last thing he wants to do. After a night of drinking in the park, he wakes up to find his new friends gone, and everything around him has changed.

Sarah Osborne grew up in the rugged Yellowstone wilderness. She can hunt and track right alongside the most experienced men. When some Indians drop a near-dead man off on her doorstep, she doesn’t know what to think. He’s convinced he’s from the future, and wants to find a way home.

Chase has no idea how he ended up time traveling to the past. He doesn’t know the first thing about surviving without modern conveniences. Finding your own food means a quick trip to the nearest fast food joint, not hunting and foraging for it. Time and again, his will is tested to stay alive in this untamed land. Is his growing love for a brave woman who shows him what it truly means to be a man strong enough to keep him in the past, or is he still determined to return to the ease and comforts of the future?

Pilot Error, by T.C. Ravenscraft. (Still free?)

All 5-star reviews for this suspenseful romance. Free today!

"Ravenscraft does a great job with character banter and you can feel the tension between Luke and Micki. Though I have to say however handsome and great Luke is, Fizz Micki's border collie is by far my favorite character. T.C. Ravenscraft does an excellent job in portraying not only a lovable companion to Micki, but a real dog, in all his interactions with other characters and just random dog things." -- Amazon reviewer

*** This is an action suspense "clean" romance (no sex) with minor language and violence ***

Micki Jacinto is determined to be 'one of the guys.' For years, she has been flying solo in the mostly male dominated world of civil aviation. As owner and operator of a one pilot/one plane scenic flight business in the Florida Keys, Micki is used to dealing with temperamental tourists, hit and miss courier jobs, and her Coast Guard flyboy friends.

When a routine USCG training exercise claims the life of one of those friends, Micki can't accept the initial report of 'pilot error.' Neither, it seems, can Luke Hardigan, an outsider with a secret agenda that quickly puts Micki's world into a tailspin.

To uncover the truth, Micki must ignore her hard won survivor's instincts and trust Luke. But who is the bigger threat to her very existence—the Bad Guys with the guns, the inclement weather, or Luke Hardigan himself?

Nobilissima, by Carrie Bedford. (Still free?)

This debut novel from Carrie Bedford is praised for its historical accuracy and entertaining pace. Free today!

"The pace was furious and moved effortlessly from chapter to chapter. I particularly liked the way the author weaved in a wealth of facts about Rome and this period of Late Antiquity, such as the role of the church and the various schisms between branches of Christianity; the reliance of Rome on grain from Africa; the dangers of sea travel; what it must have been like to be witnessing or taking part in a battle; and the growing number of tribal foederati in the Roman army. Judicious use of Latin terms add extra color. The descriptive passages are quite brilliant." -- Amazon reviewer

Nobilissima is the story of Placidia, a Roman princess who marries the King of the Visigoths and later becomes Empress of the Roman Empire. It is a story of love, ambition and war, set against a backdrop of barbarian invasions and the Empire's turbulent transition from paganism to Christianity.

In 410 AD, the Visigoths sack Rome and seize hostages. That dark, violent night marks the beginning of a perilous journey through Italy, Gaul and Spain for Placidia and her companions. She survives immense hardships and an attempt on her life to find happiness in her marriage to the new Visigoth king and the birth of their son. But a series of terrible tragedies forces her to return to her brother’s court, where further trials await her. A strong and courageous woman, Placidia is also a skillful politician capable of building alliances with popes, kings, senators and generals. She gathers power and influence, but all seems lost when a scandal erupts and her life is again threatened. She flees to Constantinople, only to learn that her brother has died and a usurper has seized the crown. At the head of an army, she returns to Ravenna to fight for the throne.
