Awake In The Mad World, by Damon Ferrell Marbut. (Still free?)

This contemporary coming-of-age story gets strong reviews for its original and fresh writing.

"We've probably all found ourselves, at some point, wondering what the 'real world' is and whether we've reached it yet. For newspaper journalist Pete Rattigan, the question is becoming increasingly important as he struggles to get through life now that he's graduated. Then a chance encounter changes everything, and Pete finds himself drawn into a life-changing experience.

"Damon Ferrell Marbut has created some remarkable characters here, and he manages to hold together a powerful narrative that - in lesser hands - would have fallen flat. This was a genuinely moving book, from first page to last. This really is quite a brilliant novel, and one that I'd recommend to anyone who has ever wondered how their own hopes and dreams fit into the 'real world'." -- Indie Bookspot

Pete Rattigan is a frustrated young newspaper journalist caught up in uncertainty of the post-graduate "real world". One night, one seemingly minor encounter sparks a philosophical journey which leads him to discover that in the most beautiful or even cruel moments of life, the power of friendship explains the power of the universe. And that perhaps there is no such thing as chance.

With force, humor and sensitivity Damon Ferrell Marbut presents his debut, Awake in the Mad World, which frees its audience to believe again in the wildness of the young American heart, how it beats just to prove that it will always survive and succeed on its own terms.

"This is a great read! The best kind....I could not put it down! The plot hooked me in from the opening sequence and kept me engaged until the last page. I have been a Jennifer Blake fan for (dare I say?) decades. This romance is the embodiment of why a Jennifer Blake book never disappoints: it has rich, animated, well developed characters involved in a plot that kept me turning pages eagerly to see what would happen next! The setting is romantic...being in a billionaire's world is exciting, not to overlook the lavish Tuscan landscape, ancient family estates, hot cars and hotter leading characters. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. " -- Lakelady, Amazon reviewer

Revenge can indeed be sweet...

When her brother's car plunges off a cliff with him and his fiance in it, Amanda Davies gets the news personally from the fiance's brother. The devastatingly handsome Italian businessman appears in Atlanta and whisks Amanda off to Italy to be with the hospitalized couple. But could his motive be more?

Nicholas de Frenza never approved of his sister's choice in husband to begin with, and now that Carita is in a coma due to her fiance's reckless driving, it seems the perfect time to resurrect an ancient Italian custom of revenge: the seduction calls for a similar seduction in return, a sister for a sister. But Nico is too civilized for such vengeance -- or is he?

Even as Amanda falls for the Tuscan's charms, she knows his code and his family would never approve of her as more than a simple dalliance. But then the secret about the car wreck comes out -- and that's when everything changes...

A brand-new contemporary romance by one of the legends of the genre.

"What a great read this book was, I was able to finish it quickly and is an easy quick read for all. I truly enjoyed the lead character in this, he has a lot of personal demons and issues to be resolved leading the reader to truly enjoy this story. Jeff Shelby is becoming a master at the mystery novel as I have found all of his books to be very good. Here's to hoping this new book (which leaves a MAJOR cliff hanger) is not just a one time thing and a potential series will come with. " -- Sean Monaghan, Amazon reviewer

To find out the truth, he will have to face his ex-wife, his former bosses, and a hometown full of wealth, lies, and illicit privilege. "Dave Conifer's latest novel is a realistic, gritty look at the inordinate importance placed on college sports in today's society and how far people will go to keep that machine rolling. Fear not, this isn't a fictionalized version of the Penn State tragedy. Thankfully, the two situations are completely different, but one cannot help but draw parallels between both while reading this book. "Hard Lines" is yet another thrilling page-turner from Conifer, this time using the backdrop of college sports to intricately weave together a winding web of turmoil and deceit." -- CS

The Soul Sphere: Book 1 The Shattered Sphere, by David Adams. (Still free?)

Get this epic fantasy free today!

"I just finished the first book and I'm glad there's a second! Finishing the book kept me reading well past my lunch break since I didn't want to wait 'til tonight to end the story. This is one of those books where I ended up liking all the characters and found myself worried that one of them might not make it to the end... and if not, which one? The adventure was very engaging and took a couple cool twists I really didn't expect. Definitely worth reading." -- Robert Daneker, Amazon reviewer

Evil has been unleashed in Arkania. The mage Solek, hungry for power, has smashed the Soul Sphere, an ancient device created to contain the Dark One, the very embodiment of evil. The shards of the Sphere have been scattered, and fearsome guardians stand watch over them. The free lands are now battered by attacks from armies of resurrected dead - "The Dead Legion" - and demons and other foul creatures roam the world.

The last hope for Arkania's salvation falls on an unlikely band: Demetrius and Corson, long-time friends from Corindor; Rowan, a paladin from Delving; Tala, an elf from the Eastern Forest; the goblin Lucien; and Alexis, a warrior from the northern land of Lorgras. Together they must gather the shards and reform the Soul Sphere, thereby imprisoning the Dark One and restoring hope to their world.

Agent in Training (Department of National Security), by Jerri Drennen. (Still free?)

A romantic suspense novel, from prolific author Jerri Drennen - free today!

"I was charmed by the set up. The heroine is taking over a national security agency and the hero, a new agent there, is not happy about it. This leads to friction between them. It was rather fun watching the two of them spark off each other, try to deny how they felt, succumb `for just one night' and then move away only to start over again. Added to that is it quickly becomes apparent that some one wants the heroine dead.

What ultimately won me over is that the book broke one of the unwritten rules of romance. I've rarely read a romance where the hero wasn't above the heroine on the social scale. Nurse falls for doctor. Lieutenant fall for her Captain, and so on and so forth. The heroine in this book is ten years older than the hero, and the head of the agency they both work for. It was this delicious breaking of the rules that made this book quite enjoyable. The heroine certainly wanted the hero, but she didn't need him." -- Rob Graham, Amazon reviewer

On the outside Shiloh Templar appears rigid as steel. But inside she's fighting to keep everything together. Week one as the new director, she's forced to cut staff. The smart-mouthed, much-too-young and sexy Nicholas Trent's position is on the chopping block. Yet, rather than accepting his fate, the man blackmails her.

Nicolas Trent joined the Department of National Security solely for his mother's benefit in an attempt to follow in his dead father's footsteps. He never planned to stay. But when the company's new director, a fiery red-head nicknamed Old Iron Maiden makes it clear he's not DNS material and will probably be released from duty, Nick has a change of heart. He'll resort to any means to keep his job, even threatening to file a sexual harassment suit against the director for walking in on him in the men's shower room while he's naked. When a threat and two attempts on Shiloh's life are made, the company insists she have an agent by her side. She's forced to turn to the one man she thinks doesn't belong at the department. ... and finally, a bargain Kindle book, available for 99 cents today!

The Silver Cross (A Vampire Nightlife Novel), by Debra L Martin. (Still $0.99?)

This fantasy romance is today's Kindle bargain book, available for 99 cents! Written by prolific brother-and-sister team Debra L. Martin and David W. Small.

"The first chapter of The Silver Cross reminds me of an all time great mythology, "Daughters of Copper Woman," setting events in motion that touch Lacey's life later in time. Lacey might not have believed in monsters yesterday, but today she has a rare opportunity - to walk the Fringe. Silver Cross is a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat (unless you are in bed, in which case grab-the-covers) sort of story. Relate-able characters, intricate plot, and action scenes which are well thought out weave together to make this a great read, if you like vampires and love stories." -- Michelle Snyder, Amazon reviewer

There are two things Boston detective Lacey Gardner knows about killing vampires. Slicing off a head or a hit directly to the heart are the only surefire ways to kill one. Silver is their Achilles heel. A vampire never wears silver.

When she meets bartender extraordinaire, Damon Harte, her heart does a quickstep for the dark hunky guy. She's learned the hard way that having a love interest in her line of work can be heart-wrenching. She's kept to herself for years, but something about Damon captivates her and draws her to him. When she learns Damon's devastating secret, she knows what she has to do: kill the man who has stolen her heart.
