Dee Ernst began writing when she was ten years old, took thirty years off to become a grown-up, then started writing again in 1999 while being a stay-at-home Mom to her youngest daughter. Writing seemed a good alternative to talking back to Sesame Street. Besides, she decided she really wanted a beach house. Her first masterwork, at 180,000 words, was rejected by over thirty agents before being quietly put out of everyone’s misery.

Fast forward to 2010. Dee had two more manuscripts that a devoted, hard-working agent had been unable to sell. Being hopelessly optimistic, she decided to self-publish. Being completely cyber-stupid, this took her a little longer than a normal self-pubbed author, but in October of that year, Better Off Without Him was launched. It puttered along quietly, selling sometimes as many as fifty copies a month, as well as slowly attracting a few good reviews.

In the spring of 2012, she published her second title, A Different Kind of Forever. She also put Better Off Without Him in the KDP Select program, and her first free run knocked her flat on her butt – almost 34,000 free downloads...sales reaching into the four-digits...reviews coming in from all sides...emails from readers saying how much they loved her book. The stuff that writer-dreams are made of.

She’s been grinning like an idiot ever since.

In the next few weeks, her website will be going live. Her third book should be ready for the big reveal late this fall. Once again, the main character will be a woman, over forty, kicking butt and taking names. There are a few ‘sequel’ shorts in the works. She may even be able to quit her day job to concentrate on full-time writing, more and better gardening, and dog-walking.
