Today's Free App of the Day is Italian Recipes from Italyum
I was excited to see this app, who doesn't love a good Italian dinner? The reviews aren't good, however. Two one-star reviews are for having to install Adobe Air; a couple two star reviews address issues with the recipes. After checking it out, I really can't recommend it. The directions and ingredient list, as mentioned in a review, are in a tiny little framed space; one must scroll to access them--just what one would want to do while cooking. And in the risotto recipe I looked at, it called for stock and wine, but those were not listed in the ingredients. I do like that it has pictures of various stages of the recipe.

So we have a bonus pick: Recipe, Menu & Cooking Planner.
Here's a well reviewed app that lets you collect recipes from web pages; you sign up for the website and, as you find recipes, go to pepperplate.com's website and add the url to your account. Recipes appear instantly in the app on your device and you can select a recipe and add it to your shopping list. You can plan your meals a week (or more) at a time and add all items to your shopping list, and it has times you can set. For ease of import, I prefer ChefTap, an earlier KBAAD, as it will import any recipes already saved in accounts, but this has other nice things and is a very attractive app. 62 of 73 reviews are four stars and above.
