Death by Honeymoon (Book #1 in the Caribbean Murder Series), by Jaden Skye. (Still free?)

"I love the Caribbean and when I saw this novel was set there, I had to have it. This is the first novel in a series, which has great promise. The heroine was naive but determined to find out why her husband was killed on their honeymoon in Barbados." -- Amazon reviewer

On the rugged, wild, eastern shore of Barbados, Cindy and Clint are enjoying their dream honeymoon, when paradise quickly turns into hell. Cindy finds her newly beloved taken away from her, drowned in a freak accident in the ocean. The local police are quick to declare it an accident, to insist that he was caught in a sudden riptide. But Cindy, left all alone, is not convinced.

Cindy must return to her and Clint's now-empty home in New York and face her in-laws, who never wanted Clint to marry her, and who did everything to make her engagement and wedding hell. She must deal with all of these women's backbiting, gossiping and unspoken accusations, while she tries to get a handle on her own grief and to get clear on what really happened to Clint.

Cindy is mailed an anonymous photo of a woman she had never met, addressed to Clint. As she tries to unravel the mysterious package, as she begins to dig deeper into Clint's emails and files, she realizes how many secrets Clint had been hiding from his past. She realizes that she didn't really know the man she loved. And she also realizes that Clint was murdered.

She digs deeper, into the depths of Clint's massive corporation, DGB oil, and as she starts to unearth information she shouldn't, she goes too far. Soon her own life is in peril. On the run, she realizes that the only way to get answers, and to save her own life, is to return to where it all began: Barbados. As she heads into the dark underside of the island, into the heart of the local villages, she is shocked to discover what really happened to her husband on their honeymoon.

But by then, it may already be too late.

Positively Mine, by Christine Duval. (Still 1.99?)

"Beautiful story! Positively Mine is a story about a college girl who got pregnant and forced to make decisions she wasn't prepared for. It's a story about growing up, struggling with day-to-day reality of unplanned pregnancy. I read Positively Mine a few months ago and was shocked by the effect it had on me. I couldn't even write a review because I was afraid it'd be too emotional. Maybe because it's beautifully written, and you can feel the write's voice and can't help loving it. And the characters are so real and familiar, they could be your neighbors. I was with Laurel all the way throughout the book, struggling with accepting and dealing with the consequences of one night." -- Amazon reviewer

It is four weeks into her freshman year of college, and Laurel's first test was unexpected. Discovering she's pregnant isn't exactly what she had planned for her first semester, and while she intends to tell her emotionally-distant father, being away at school makes it all too easy to hide.

An imperfect heroine plagued by bad choices and isolated during what should be the best time of her life, readers are sure to identify with Laurel as she confronts teen pregnancy, in secret.

The Burning Star (Star Series), by Jessie Lane. (Still 0.99?)

"Really good!! I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The characters were excellently done and I absolutely loved Kira's character. The ending was great and it has me convinced to stick with the series. I will definitely continue on with this series and I suggest this book to fans of fantasy." -- Book Bite Reviews

Kay's journey of a lifetime started in the woods outside of Asheville, North Carolina. It was there that the 17 year old met a beautiful man along with a monster. The chance encounter led her to an unbelievable world that shouldn't exist; a place where myths and fairy tales were real, and in some cases, deadly. Kay knew she would have to brave this new world if she hoped to find a cure for her terminal cancer.

With a strange yet beautiful cast of characters that she would meet along the way, Kay uncovered truths that would change her life forever. However, before it was all over, it would become clear that Kay wasn't the only one with problems.

Yet another 17 year old young woman was fighting for her freedom and her life.

Kira had lived in a magical world that Kay had only dreamt of. Despite this, her life had not been filled with many good things. As a matter of fact, she considered her empty, emotional solitude the only positive aspect of her life. She fought daily battles to escape abuse and torture.

Trained to be an expert assassin, she was charged with kidnapping Kay and delivering her to Kira's master, Lord Donovan.

As the two young women set forth in their journeys, their paths would cross in unimaginable ways. The only question that would remain was who would come out alive and whole in the end?'

WARNING: This is a upper ya/young adult/new adult fictional story that includes some explicit language, graphic violence, and mild sexual situations. Recommended for ages sixteen and up.

Shine On (Shine On Series), by Allison J. Jewell. (Still free?)

"The real story is the chemistry between Emmie and Silas. Should this sweet, "good" girl get mixed up with this "wise guy" attorney from Chicago?" - GoodReads

"When it comes to characters, I always want a "good" villain. By that I mean a well written villain that I do not have to feel guilty about my dislike of the character. "Mr. Thomas" is a perfect villain." - Jed's View

Emmie Talbot is a quintessential good girl.
Smart, Southern, Kind
Church Goer
Small Town Seamstress
Aspiring Teacher
And
A Misguided Moonshiner

Emmie's sole purpose in life was taking care of her moonshine loving step-father. When he is killed in a fiery crash on their farm, she is left alone and frustrated with a mountain of debt. Working as a seamstress for a crazy-old-coot shopkeeper is not the kind of life she had imagined for herself.

The curious events that surround her step-father's death send Emmie on a quest for answers. Answers that lead to a dangerous secret tucked away on her property. Stumbling on a moonshine still was an unfortunate event for most folks in the hills of Kentucky. She was lucky not to have been shot on the spot. Emmie saw hope in the steam escaping the curved copper pipe of "Ole Maizy". However, a series of mishaps put her front and center in a local moonshine war.

In the midst of chaos, Emmie is befriended by an attorney recently transported from Chicago. Silas McDowell is a man seeking some answers of his own. In an attempt to find a little roaring twenties glamour in the small town, he introduces Emmie to the underground world of Speakeasies and Blind Pigs. Loyalty, lies, and murder conspire to push Silas and Emmie together or rip them apart. Cloaked in secrets and unsure whom to trust, Emmie must decide to drown in darkness or find a way to Shine On.
