The Mystery Box: The Mystery Book Collection, by Eva Pohler. (Still free?)

"The Mystery Box by Eva Pohler is a contemporary story with elements of romance, suspense, action, and mystery. I found myself experiencing the emotions along with Yvette. I had tears in my eyes as I read the last 15-20% of the book because I was so emotionally vested. The story was well written and flowed smoothly. Although a few of Yvette's memories slowed down the pace. Mona's story was captivating and I kept wanting Yvette to go back over and hear more of the story. Overall, this was a great read and I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series when it's released." -- Amazon reviewer

Soccer mom Yvette Palmer lives an ordinary life in San Antonio, Texas when a box is delivered to her by mistake, and in taking it to its rightful owner—a crotchety neighbor named Mona who shares her back fence—is drawn into a strange and haunting tale.

Mona’s ratty robe, mood swings, and secretive behavior all raise red flags, and Yvette is sure someone else is living there despit Mona’s claim to live alone, but Yvette is unable to break away as she listens to how Mona transformed from a young college woman about to be married to the odd, reclusive, ghost of a woman she is now.

As Yvette listens to her neighbor's tale, she discovers a shocking connection, but doesn't know whether Mona's come to help or to harm her and her family.

The Last of the Fighting Farrells, by Van Holt. (Still 0.99?)

"This is another well-written western from Van Holt which will keep you reading to find out how the story ends. The action starts when the Haggans decide to ambush and kill a member of the Farrells. Further ambushes follow and the war begins again. The story follows the lives of the families and explores the characters and their way of thinking, incorporating the local townsfolk -- most of whom are scared of the Haggans who ride into town and pillage the local shops whenever they feel the need to. The hero of the book has many flaws to his character and is not the typical gunslinger portrayed in many westerns. I enjoyed the fact that the author named the four eldest Farrell brothers Matt, Mark, Luke and Johnny - a clever little twist! I recommend this book as a lighthearted read which will keep you hooked until the final outcome." -- Amazon reviewer

THE LAST OF THE FIGHTING FARRELLS

The Haggan brothers were all cocky, mean bastards. They felt they were above the law and that anyone who got in their way or crossed them, would pay.
They could not even remember when they had not been feuding with the Farrells, only that their Pa had killed old Matt Farrell over some cattle their Pa had rustled from him.
There had been an uneasy truce for many years, but the Haggan boys were restless and wanted to get things going again.
They ambushed Luke’s oldest brother, Matt and then killed the other three, Johnny, Mark and young Ben.
But they made their biggest mistake when they failed to kill the LAST OF THE FIGHTING FARRELLS.

PURE VISION: The Magdalene Revelation, by Perri Birney. (Still 0.99?)

"A thrill ride in the vein of The Da Vinci Code but with a much larger vision for all of us. The alchemy is part historic fiction, part spiritual adventure, and a variety of interfaith metaphysics that metamorphosize into a golden vision of world peace . . . a page turner." -- Paul Hertel, Whole Living

An ancient artifact is stolen . . . A long-lost document is found . . . A mysterious and dangerous journey unfolds . . .

New York Times reporter Maggie Seline writes an explosive book that offers a controversial solution to the Middle East crisis. When she uncovers a radical energy scheme that threatens the oil industry, Maggie suddenly vanishes. Her disappearance ignites a worldwide women's march toward Jerusalem that rattles the status quo and parallels a frantic race to possess ancient talismans.

An upcoming peace conference hides the true motivation of Giovanni Mabus, outgoing president of the European Commission, who intends to exploit a powerful mythological connection between two legendary treasures. In league with the clandestine pseudo-Masonic group, Propaganda Due, he sets in motion events aimed at furthering political and military chaos in the Middle East in order to accomplish his aims. Meanwhile, Maggie and Dead Sea Scrolls scholar Michael Sonada race to thwart the sinister plot -- a race that takes them into the forbidden regions of Nepal to make an earth-shattering discovery.

PURE VISION brings together ancient myths and contemporary challenges in a provocative and inspiring thrill ride. At every turn, Perri Birney's intriguing scenario encourages a closer look at the spiritual forces that infuse the world's political battles.
