The Monmouth Summer, by Tim Vicary. (Still free?)
"This is a beautifully-written and well-researched work full of fascinating detail about life in 17th century England. In fact, if you want to learn history without trying, this is the way to do it. But you should read it for other reasons too. Mr Vicary knows how to write a good tale. His characters are utterly believable and the plot is exciting, drawing the reader in to an alternative world. This is what I believe fiction should do, and if it teaches you something about a very interesting period of history, then that is a bonus." -- Amazon reviewer

"Well-developed world and characters! Many fantasy books are slow to get going. Often you must rely on faith that there is payoff while you trod through the setup. "Children" is not one of those books. The tension starts early and drives you forward as you learn about these well developed characters. As the story progresses you alternate between "the present" and the characters childhood, seeing the experiences that drive them and bind them together. And despite all the swords and magic, in the end this is a book about people, learning to have faith in themselves and in each other." -- Amazon reviewer
386 pages, with a 4.7-star rating from 28 reviews.
Fresh Doubt (Ingrid Skyberg FBI Thrillers - Book 1), by Eva Hudson. (Still free?)
"I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest from begin to end. It did not take a long time to identify with the characters, the plot was not obvious, and it was not long and drawn out, but the ending did feel a bit rushed. For some reason the final curtain caught me of guard. Other than that, I would read another of Eve Hudson's novels. Having said all that, I would and will recommend this book for others reading enjoyment. Good job!" -- Amazon reviewer
