"Neeson provides a superb recreation of the dark days of 1940 when Britain stood alone following her defeat at Dunkirk. But the novel isn't just a history lesson; it is a gripping thriller which I found difficult to put down." -- Garry Owens
240 pages, with a 5.0-star rating from 3 reviews.
Wolf Magic (Avador), by Shirley Martin. (Still 0.99?)
"Wonderful shifter story! When given the chance to read this book I grabbed on. What was not to like a romance, shifters, suspense. Yeah, it was all there. However, Ms Martin gives a great spin on the traditional shifter story. It was intriguing and grabbed a hold to not let go until you finished the book. Give this series a try. You wont be sorry! I look forward to what Ms Martin gives us next." -- Amazon reviewer
116 pages, with a 4.1-star rating from 7 reviews.
Balanced on the Blade's Edge (Dragon Blood Book 1), by Lindsay Buroker. (Still 0.99?)
"There are very few self published authors whose works I put on my buy list. Ms. Buroker is one of those few. While she is best known for her Emperors Edge series (and I do recommend that series, the first book of which is free), this is a stand alone novel set in a different universe.
"Ms. Buroker writes, as always, with a humor that is wry and self-deprecating. Her turns of phrase are clever, and her characters are well written.
"The male POV character, a 'maverick' and airship pilot (think fighter jet combined with VTOL, roughly shaped like a dragon), is assigned away from the battle frontlines, to guard the one mine that produces the power crystals that power the airships. The female POV character, a mage who has been in stasis for 300 years, and who is 'bonded' with a perpetually teenage (read: sarcastic) sorceress trapped within a sword, gets dug out of her emergency stasis shelter just as the male POV character arrives to take charge. Sparks fly. Electricty crackles. Zepplins and giant owls show up, and even worse-- academics and hidebound administrative generals too.
"If you enjoy steampunk with a hefty dash of romance, you would be well served to buy this book." -- Amazon reviewer
